Dani Beckerman definitely falls on our list of ladies we admire. At just 24 years old, she turned her side hustle into a full-time gig — and a very sweet one at that. The founder behind Jars by Dani knows what it takes to build a successful business, starting with the area you work in. Taking cues from her rainbow-filled desserts, the entrepreneur teamed up with HomeGoods to deck out her new office space in Long Island City, New York. Spoiler alert: The final product is a real treat. Scroll below to see.
Brit + Co: What was the overall vibe you were going for in your new space?
Dani Beckerman: My jars! I wanted it to really mirror one of my rainbow jars — colorful, fun, bright, happy, and exciting — while also being super chic. HomeGoods helped me bring to life exactly what I wanted; even while shopping I was finding so many treasures it felt like the store was stocked just for me.
B+C: Were there any must-haves for designing an office that was both fashionable and functional?
DB: As an entrepreneur, it was really important to me to make the office a place where I felt inspired by everything around me — from the bottom to the top. The layered rugs covered our warehouse-like floors and allowed me to pull all the colors of the rainbow to truly reflect my brand. I couldn’t decide, and the prices were so great, so I chose three.
I also found several sets of rainbow drawers, which were a surprising find and they keep me super organized. The yellow-colored drawer really catches my eye and got me thinking about maybe making a new banana-flavored jar.
B+C: What do you think is the secret to making a workspace feel productive?
DB: Keeping it organized! I was really able to maximize my desk space by exploring the workspace section at HomeGoods for cute desktop accessories. I pulled several sets of organizers, shelves, cute notepads, pens, and markers for each desktop.
B+C: What is one item in your office you couldn’t go a day without?
DB: I found the most incredible cowhide-printed velvet desk chair at HomeGoods — I am obsessed with it! It’s so cute and comfortable. I couldn’t just get one, though; I grabbed one for each of my employees and they love them too.
B+C: Any last tips for gals hoping to lean into their hobbies/side hustles like you?
DB: Work hard. Love what you do. Believe in what you do. And then work a little harder.
