STERLING – Decor and More, a handmade, homemade crafts business and consignment shop, is closing its storefront and changing its business model – for now.
Owner Lynn Wessels is taking a year or so off to spend time with her two girls, who turn 2 and 5 this year.
“They are growing so fast that I don’t want to miss out my babies being babies,” she wrote on her business’ Facebook page.
Wessels, who also offered DIY classes at the shop at 1301 E. Fourth St., will set up at the Rock Falls community building one Friday a month for walk-in “make-n-takes,” and will sell items there. She also plans to take custom orders, have the occasional pop-up shop and sale, and hold workshops at customers’ homes.
Decor and More started its brick-and-mortar life downtown at 3 E. Third St. then moved to the former Black Sheep Gift Shop (the two-story green house across the street from the post office) before settling on the building that once housed C&J Auto Parts.
The store’s last day is a bit up in the air; call Wessels at 815-622-8468 or find Decor and More on Facebook for more information and updates, and for a schedule of pop-ups and workshops.
