A unique office space in Melbourne has done away with drab corporate interiors in favour of progressive ‘spaces’ – including a room filled with greenery aptly named the ‘jungle room’.

The office complex, located in the suburb of Narre Warren, is housed in a state-of-the-art building, and it has been designed to allow businesses flexible working arrangements.

Part of the appeal of this luxury environment is while there are conventional offices, there’s also a focus on spaces which promote collaboration and creativity.

Adding green spaces to offices as a way to positively enhance a worker’s mood is a trend that’s on the rise, and it appears to have gained even more traction after Amazon unveiled it’s newest headquarters – The Spheres Complex – in 2018.

The space is home to some 40,000 plants and has been compared to a rainforest.

The rainforest room, housed within the Melbourne office complex, draws on similar design ideas and while it functions as a meeting room it also offers worker a zone to relax and recharge.

It is populated with a range of tall ferns, native palms and natural grasses. Carpet is dispensed with in favour of natural wood flooring.

A backdrop featuring a waterfall adds to the calm and relaxed vibe while loungers in black leather make the room an ideal space to rest and restore an overloaded mind.

Research has revealed there’s a direct relationship between greenery and increased productivity in the workplace.

Forbes reports a study from an Exeter University which found employees were 15 per cent more productive when working in a ‘green’ office, than those working in more austere conditions.

The research found a green office provided a boost to employee engagement and concentration and contributed to a perception of improved air quality.

As well as ‘jungle room’, the Melbourne offices feature kitchens which house espresso bars, a gym and an on-site massage service.

The complex also comes with several other meeting spaces which have also been designed to enhance a feeling of relaxed collaboration.

One room, which also comes with an array of hanging and potted plants, has three inbuilt water features.

The stunning space is completely decked out in natural wood which also includes flooring, furnishings and wood-panelled walls.
