The show opened at the downtown theater Thursday with performances Friday and Saturday, June 21-22, and from Wednesday-Saturday, June 26-29. All shows are at 7 p.m.
This production is one of two Student Theatre Projects at Andria Theatre this year. The Student Theatre Project is a theater camp and performing arts experience for children ages 10-18.
The students meet throughout the spring and summer, with performances in June and August. A wide range of theater experiences are offered, including training in vocal, drama and dance performance, marketing, ticket sales and event promotion. Students also learn about set and costume design, as well as what it takes to run a theater.
About the show
After being sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph connects with the Egyptian noble, Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife.
While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and eventually, he ends up reuniting with his father.
Before that, however, Joseph’s brothers tell their father that Joseph was killed and their bereft father leaves. The brothers and their wives, on the other hand, happily celebrate the loss of Joseph.
