BURLINGTON TWP. — The family-owned Italian restaurant Casamari will close early next month and go up for sale.

March 3 will be the last day Casamari will be open to customers. The restaurant was known for its homemade pizza and Italian entrees that include homemade pasta and sauces and has been rated in past public polls as the best Italian restaurant in Burlington County.

The BYOB restaurant at 710 Sunset Road is owned by Bruno and Anna LaMarca, whose son, Constantino has worked alongside them.

The owners said they are retiring and and encouraged customers with gift cards to use them within the next week.

“We’d like to first thank all the great employees who have helped us serve in Burlington Township. We couldn’t have gotten that far without you,” the family said in a statement.

“We also would also like to thank our great loyal customers who shared their days and evenings with us for all those years. We will cherish the lasting memories and friendships as we turn the page on Casamari and look to the future.”

The LaMarcas opened the business in 1997 as an ice cream shop and then expanded it into a restaurant 10 years later in 2007 to more than 3,000 square feet with Italianate architecture and a traditional interior decor with high ceilings and much natural light.

The building sits on nearly an acre and is listed for sale at $799,000 and also can be leased.

“It’s just a charming place wth a loyal customer following, a fantastic opportunity for someone and a great location (near Route 130, Route 541 and Interstate 295),” said real estate agent James Moffa of Keller William Realty, the listing agency.
