Harounian Rugs International, which this year marks its 60th anniversary, has inked a licensing partnership with longtime industry designer Wesley Mancini for a comprehensive collection of rugs.

Mancini is an award-winning designer with a career spanning more than 36 years in the industry. His eponymous textile design firm, Wesley Mancini, Ltd., heads Valdese Weavers’ Home Fabrics line of domestically produced upholstery, bedding, and drapery fabrics.

The vertical design studio creates original artwork, weave structures, color, “straight to the final product.” That includes outdoor fabric collections for Al Fresco, a division of Swavelle.

And now, via its new licensing partnership with HRI, the firm is also developing a branded area rug program encompassing handmade, hand-tufted, hand-loomed and machine-made styles featuring a portfolio of transitional to contemporary designs by Mancini.

“With our experience and Wesley’s experience, this new collection should be a home run,” Lee Harounian, HRI president, told HAT. “This will be our broadest collection to date, and it’s because we are looking to partner with furniture companies and offer them a variety of looks and price points.”

He added: “It’s very exciting to be a part of creating new, unique Mancini area rugs that are on trend with today’s upholstery fabrics.”

HRI will preview the new Wesley Mancini Collection during New York Home Fashions Market, March 18-21, at the company’s flagship showroom at 104 W. 29th St., between Sixth and Seventh avenues.

The official launch is scheduled for High Point Market, April 6-10, at the company’s showroom on the first floor of Market Square, 1010A.
