The store, which sells clothing for men, women and children as well as furniture and home décor, is now located at 113 W. Railroad St., which is off West Jackson Street. The store is within sight of the Rossini restaurant.

“I love the new space, being near Jackson Street and looking out and seeing the railroad line,” said Leslie Baddeley of Madison, owner of the boutique.

The boutique moved about two months ago into the structure that once housed CrossFit 601. The new location gives the boutique 4,350 square feet to fill compared to the 2,100 square feet at its former location, she said.

Baddley purchased the boutique about four and a half years ago from Beverly Corder, the original owner.

A 2004 graduate of Mississippi State University who earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Baddley always dreamed of opening her own store.

“I love people,” she said. “When you come here, customer service is everything. For you to take time to walk through the door means a lot to me and my two kids and our livelihood.”

Trendy Treasures is part of Ridgeland’s line up of consignment shops that includes Repeat Street (242 U.S. 51 North), Palladian Consign and Design (637 U.S. 51 North), Private Collection (101A Village Boulevard, Madison), Plato’s Closet (1260 E. County Line Road) and Leap Frog Children’s Consignment and More (104 Village Boulevard, Madison).

One thing that sets Trendy Treasures apart from other consignment shops in Ridgeland is that it can clothe the entire family.

“We have clothes for men in sizes extra small to 4X, for women from extra small to 4X and for children from newborn to youth 20,” Baddley said.

Repeat Street and Plato’s Closet sell clothing just for men and women. Private Collection specializes in women’s clothing and Leap Frog in children’s clothing. Palladian features furniture and home décor, no clothing.

Well-known brands and price tags nowhere near full retail draw customers to Trendy Treasures, Baddley said.

Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Lululemon, Patagonia, The North Face, Anthropologie, Free People, Southern Marsh, Southern Tide, True Grit, Matilda Jane, Vineyard Vines, Under Armour, Polo and Kissy Kissy are among brands that can be found at Trendy Treasures.

Kristian Brent of Jackson, who graduated in December 2019 from Mississippi College with a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis on sports media, recently shopped with her mother at Trendy Treasures.

“We’re looking at jeans and tops, New Year’s outfits,” she said. “We’ve been coming to Trendy Treasures for over a year. I love the owner and how she takes care of her customers.”

Dedra Brent, Kristian Brent’s mother, tried on several outfits and browsed the jewelry.

“I love the variety of items, the uniqueness of items,” said Debra Brent, who works for The Mitchell Firm in Ridgeland. “You’re not going to find what you buy here everywhere you go.”

Ara Waits of Brandon stopped by to see what she might find, naming Vera Bradley items and Mississippi State University T-shirts as her favorites.

“I’ve followed Trendy Treasures from its former location to the new one,” said Waits, who works at Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Co. in Ridgeland. “It has a lot of variety and the owner is super sweet.”

Calvin Williams of Jackson said he’s made several buys he’s proud of at Trendy Treasures.

“I like good deals,” he said, naming a Louis Vuitton purse and Christian Louboutin pumps, which made him “the man” with his significant other.

Williams, who works as a background actor and was a stand-in for Omar Dorsey in the Oprah Winfrey Network series “Queen Sugar,” said he appreciates how Baddley cares about her customers, offers excellent customer service and has a charitable heart.

In front of the store, a rack contains clothes anyone may take for free.

Items that don’t sell after 60 days are donated to a local nonprofit such as Teen Challenge, The Good Samaritan, Gateway Rescue Mission, McCoy House for Sober Living or Crossroads Ministries.

Trendy Treasures accepts clothes, accessories, shoes and other items for consignment from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and by appointment. Items consigned should have a retail value of at least $15.

“We look at what a person brings while they’re here and let them know what we will take,” Baddley said. “Some brands we take in plus size that we wouldn’t otherwise take due to demand for those sizes.”

Trendy Treasures schedules a sidewalk sale on the first Saturday of each month. Ladies Night is scheduled the first Thursday of each month from 6-9 p.m. with pop-up vendors, refreshments and door prizes.

Trendy Treasures is open from 10:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
