Ultra Luxe on the Slopes

Modern French luxury ski chalets are something to behold. If it weren’t for the snow banked outside, you might think you were in a chic apartment in the 7th Arrondisement or a loft in Tribeca. Sleek interiors that aren’t afraid to embrace modern materials and eschew cutesy Alpine kitsch are the hallmarks of many of the luxe properties on the rental market today. Think concrete, minimalist décor and a look that could work in Miami or Los Angeles or Milan, let alone the French Alps.

A company called Le Collectionist has curated some of the best examples for rent this winter, in French alpine resorts such as Megève, Chamonix and Courchevel. They all redefine exclusivity. The kitchens are designed for professional chefs for hire. Many have indoor lap pools, screening rooms and multiple spaces for living are common. So are Middle Eastern-styled hammams and indoor Jacuzzis that resemble small hotel swimming pools. For well-heeled skiers who’ve grown bored with five-star hotels, chalets such as these offer the next level of luxury. The Collectionist takes a stay at one of these properties to another level by creating “Experience” for an extra fee. These enhancements in their French Alps properties can include dog sledding, torchlight skiing and skiing with an Olympic ski cross racer. Here’s a look at four of Le Collectionist’s top Alpine properties.
