“Mama” June Shannon’s reality TV career could be in jeopardy following her arrest on drug charges in Alabama. The 39-year-old star of Mama June: From Not to Hot and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo landed in jail on March 13 after police responded to reports of an altercation between her and her boyfriend, 43-year-old Eugene “Geno” Doak, at a gas station near Tuskegee, according to a report from AL.com.
Police found drugs and drug paraphernalia

Doak told Shannon that he was going to kill her, according
to police. While investigating that threat, officers discovered crack cocaine
and a crack pipe in Shannon’s truck. Both Shannon and Doak were arrested and
charged with felony drug possession and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia. Doak was also charged with third-degree domestic violence.
Mama June has been released from jail
Shannon was released from jail the same day she was
arrested, AL.com reported. Boak spent 24 hours in the Macon County Jail and was
then released.
The day after she was released from jail, she retrieved her
vehicle from an impound lot. TMZ obtained an audio recording
of what they described as a “manic” sounding Shannon talking with a tow truck
driver.
The couple had spent the night at the VictoryLand casino and hotel in Shorter, Alabama, the night before their arrest.
The local sheriff was surprised by the attention the arrest received

Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson wasn’t prepared for the
amount of interest in Shannon’s arrest.
“We’ve had phone calls from everywhere. I never imagined we would get so many phone calls from so many different people about them,” Brunson said at a press conference on March 19. “Me, myself, I wasn’t too familiar with Mama June and all, you know the whole TV series … but somebody recognized them right away.”
Brunson added that Shannon’s celebrity didn’t afford her any
special treatment.
“We followed our rules and our guidelines,” Brunson said,
adding that Shannon and Boak were both treated like any other person who is
arrested in Macon County.
He added that Shannon “was very cordial, very nice and
funny” during the arrest. “We didn’t have any problems with either one.”
Will Mama June’s show be canceled?
Shannon didn’t let her arrest deter her from live-tweeting
the Season 3 premiere of From Not to Hot,
which aired on WE TV on March 15. She even tweeted about the possibility of
marrying Doak, writing “we’re going to see what happens.”
Shannon has been absent from Twitter since news of her
arrest broke. And WE TV hasn’t made any announcement about whether she’ll be
able to keep her show in light of the charges against her. A preliminary
hearing is scheduled for Shannon on March 27.
Shannon’s previous reality TV show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, was canceled in 2014 after TLC learned that Mark McDaniel, her boyfriend at the time, was a convicted child molester. Her current show, which chronicles her weight loss journey and personal life, premiered in 2017.
